U.S. Ambassador John Campbell donated sets of Scholastic Press children’s books to two Islamic schools in northern Nigeria during a Muslim outreach trip. The first set of primary and secondary school reference books were donated to the Attahiru Bafarawa Institute for Quranic and General Studies, Sokoto, Nigeria. The second set of primary level books was donated to Shabab Muslimina Islamiyya primary school in Kano. The Islamiyya primary school was a beneficiary of the USAID COMPASS Project to improve the schools facilities for the students and teachers.
The donations occurred during an extensive Muslim outreach trip to northern Nigeria that included the commissioning of an American Corner, awarding of 60 ACCESS Micro-Scholarships scholarships to secondary school students in Zairia and Kano, and launching of a new Obstetric Fistula center in Sokoto.
